Turtle Beach Recon 200 Amplified Gaming Headset for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PS4 Pro & PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC, and mobile devices
Suffice to say that I am officially "old". My first gaming system was an Atari console where I spent hours turning a knob and thinking it was fun. “Pong” was considered high technology in the Dark Ages. Thankfully, we've moved light years away from the game's infancy, and turning buttons is now relegated to just opening doors. In my 50 years on the planet, I've played many other gaming systems, both handhelds and consoles. Nintendo, Sega, Playstation, Xbox and whatever else I could find. I've also used over 20 headsets for various applications, half of them having a built-in microphone. Sony, Apple, Bose, Creative Sound Blaster and others. It's been years since I've used Turtle Beach brand headphones.------------------------------- ----------------- ---- I purchased an XBox One system last holiday season as a bundle that included an Xbox Gold membership. I also made a deal on a one-year subscription to EA Sports membership. Currently I'm obsessed with MUT 18. Enter the Turtle Beach Recon 200 Amplified Wired Gaming Headset. ---------------------------- -------☆ Review ☆ I Charged Turtle Beach Amplified Gaming Headset Recon 200 for approximately 3.5 hours via the included cable (to USB) from a dead battery on arrival. I then connected the headset to the 3.5mm port on the bottom of my Xbox Wireless Controller. I turned the headset on with the slide switch and a green light came on indicating it was powered on. I made sure the mic volume and master volume sliders were set to low before switching to the Xbox input. NOTE: there is also an input for PS4.👍 This is what I liked about the Recon 200...➤ The build quality is good.➤ The 40mm over-ear speakers offered more than enough power for my ears without distortion. Amplified audio can be adjusted both on the headset via the volume control and in your system specific settings. ➤ They are compatible with Xbox One, PS4 & PS4 Pro, and work with Nintendo Switch, PC and Mobile ( tablets and smartphones) with a 3.5mm headphone jack. outside noise in my house with very little bleeding that others can hear in the room. It was great when I was watching an action movie on Netflix at 1am and didn't want to wake up my family, but still wanted to hear the “booms” from the movie!➤ The high-sensitivity microphone worked great - super clear - with easy to use volume control, and the function that lets you flip it on off works as expected. Being able to easily adjust the mic volume and hear your own voice worked well. No screaming!➤ The earbuds covered my ears and were not uncomfortable for short-term wear under an hour.➤ Cable length of about 4' is good with the controller.➤ Independent of the controller, the headset battery seems to have about a 10-12 hour lifespan. ➤ The volume controls for general and mic adjustments are simple to use. ➤ The included quick start guide is easy to follow and on-board information Turtle Beach support are clearly placed in the package. ➤ One year warranty from date of purchase to cover defects if found.-------------- --🧐 What I wish was better with this product...♦︎ Earphone comfort was good at first, but my ears got sore after about 1 hour of use. Maybe me or the headphones will adjust (soften) with prolonged use? I hope so!♦︎ Support information for the Recon 200 is not yet on the Turtle Beach website. I went there looking for how to adjust the volume through Xbox settings and found it, but under another model.♦︎ I have a pretty big head and these headphones fit me without pinching. Some fat guys might find them too tight despite the metal-reinforced headband being adjustable. ------------------------------- ------------------☆ Conclusion ☆I really like the Recon 200. And I think for a gamer on a budget, it's a great choice. Whether you want an immersive entertainment experience or want to chat with gamers at a LAN party, these wired headphones are a bargain. ----------- ----------------------------🛠 Audio adjustments may be necessary, even on the highest setting on phones. On your gaming system or PC, there are specific 'headphone' or 'audio' settings that may need to be adjusted in order for these headphones to provide you with the volume you are looking for. Once the My Xbox audio settings were adjusted to maximum for the headset, I had to lower the maximum volume of my headset because it was too loud for me.----------------- ------ ------------------------------------------
