SlimeVR Full Body Tracker

is a set of sensors and software for Full Body Tracking (FBT) in virtual reality. SlimeVR makes VR FBT affordable, wireless (no base stations) and more comfortable than competitors.

How it works?

SlimeVR FBT is a set of trackers and software that enables easy and efficient user body tracking in VR and other applications. Using high quality IMU sensors connected to a PC via wifi, SlimeVR enables a Comfortable full-body tracking without wires, cameras, or base stations. Five trackers on your waist, thighs, and ankles track their rotation in space, then SlimeVR uses your proportions and helmet position to calculate your joints and track position using this information. In more technical terms, SlimeVR uses absolute orientation sensors and a skeleton model with user-entered proportions and advanced kinematics to place virtual Vive trackers at key points .

The basic set of 5 trackers allows the user to track their lower body (legs and waist), which is a physical area widely supported by VR games like VRChat. Other games like NeosVR, LIV and many others can track knees and chest using the same trackers. Additional trackers can be used to increase tracking of the user's feet, elbows, chest and full hand position .

Focused on accessibility and comfort

The main focus of this project is user comfort. The sensors are lightweight and easy to wear, cannot be hidden, and provide a wide range of movement. Slime VR does not need cameras, other external sensors or base stations.

The open source design empowers the VR community to expand the SlimeVR ecosystem, create new devices, add compatibility with new software, and improve all aspects of the project in the future.

What about the Oculus Quest?

The Oculus Quest itself, as a standalone system, does not currently support full body tracking. However, you can use SlimeVR with your Oculus Quest if you connect it to a PC and play games SteamVR with!

The accuracy of SlimeVR tracking technology depends on your setup, the plane used for measurement, and how your back bends.

AprilTag requires an extra sized tracker with a phone or other tracking technology (has reliable 180° coverage without).
