SteelSeries Arctis 9X Wireless Gaming Headset – Integrated Xbox Wireless + Bluetooth – 20+ Hour Battery Life – for Xbox One and Series X
I've used a few pairs of Xbox headphones over the last 7 years of my console's life. In the first 5 or 6 years I had two pairs of Turtle Beach Stealth 600s and never had any issues but wanted to upgrade last year as I thought it was time . Last summer, I researched a new pair of headphones and settled on the Lucidsound. The LX35s, which at the time were number one or two on many people's list. I had a ton of issues with these, they were heavy and bulky, and they never quite felt like the kind of pair I'd expect as someone's number one. After only 6 months of regular use and what I would rate as very average treatment, the plastic on the right side cracked and the earpiece was basically falling off. two consistently on everyone's top ten list. I picked these up just over a month ago, despite reading a few sketchy reviews on Reddit, and was immediately impressed with the build and feel. I'll break down some pros and cons below, but the TL:DR is that they're worth the money. Pros-Great sound, I use them for a variety of games from Call of Duty to Sea of Thieves, and the sound is great. There are multiple sound profiles so you can tune it wherever you want. - They're comfortable. My gaming sessions can last anywhere from an hour to 5 hours, and during that time I had no issues with fatigue. They get a little warm in the ears, but I never really realize until I take them off and the cool air hits my ears. -The connection is reliable. When I start them they connect immediately, in the last month or so there may have been a time or two where they didn't connect immediately or they jumped around a bit, but that's not a problem at all constant problem.-The construction is solid. As mentioned my latest headphones cracked at the point where the band meets the ear cup, although these have an even smaller connection they seem sturdier. I often watch TV in the background while I'm doing the dishes or cleaning, and I'll put them on so I can hear without blowing up the TV. The sound is rich and easy to adjust. The Bluetooth connection is an impressive feature. Kinda crazy that more headphones don't have bluetooth with xbox connectivity. This is a cool feature, I like listening to music while playing games, and having it with game sound is nice. Cons (to be honest, hard to find these, which is a good thing) - The volume button on the right side is sensitive. There have been more than one time I put the headphones on or took them off and accidentally turned the volume up or down. It's something to watch out for, and I still think over time I'll get better at avoiding it.- The microphone mute system. I'm getting here a bit, but coming from turtle beaches where when you lift the arm of the mic it automatically mutes, on these headphones when you push the mic into the headset it doesn't mute it. It would be a nice feature if muted, but regardless of the mute button, the mute button is large and it is clearly muted with the red light.-Charging. no type of USB C sucks, and that certainly doesn't make this device future-proof because you'll still need to carry around a USB mic. - No mic monitoring. Again, a bit of range, but coming from a headset that has this feature (allows you to hear your own voice through the headset) it took a bit of getting used to. This was helpful to me as it allowed me to hear how loud I was making, and being a loud person it helped me shut up. - The headband is large. Another litter, but the headband is very thick and it still leaves a pretty big imprint in my hair after just about any play session. If you have any sort of social commitment, I wouldn't recommend wearing these ahead of time, which kinda sucks if you want to have that last round of COD before you go out to dinner with friends. Overall they are excellent and I have already recommended them to a few friends. The pros outweigh the cons, and most people will love them.
