Razer Base Station V2 Chroma: Chroma RGB Lighting - Non-Slip Rubber Base - Designed for Gaming Headsets - Classic Black

So let's start with a few quick facts/disclaimers: this is my very first Razer review, I wasn't sure what to expect other than a lot of YouTube's I subscribe to also use their products as friends online, so I had high expectations at the same time. I don't have a gaming PC, so I can't use this to its full potential in any way. I got it purely for aesthetics if I'm being honest as most of my gaming/pc stuff is already black and pink, I thought it would match and had some nice lights. Now that's settled, let's go. I had read a lot of reviews and wondered if this should be plugged into a computer or if I could just plug it into my wall. Almost everyone said I could plug it into my wall, IT'S WRONG. It MUST be 100% plugged into a computer to work which was frustrating as I wanted it next to my bed where I stored my headphones but now I had to move them so that was a huge disappointment. I thought I had a faulty item until I dug some more and found it only works plugged into a computer, which makes sense given the brand. feels but I never have a headphone stand do that. It only works when your computer is on, so if you want to use it to charge anything or your computer lights need to be on at 100%, I think putting the USB ports in the front gives your setup looks messy and not as clean but that's not a big deal for me since I don't really intend to use them anywhere else here and there. Speaking of usb... PC 5v USB doesn't "quick charge" anything, so if you plan on using a phone charger or anything for gadgets, this isn't your best option. It will still charge, but not as fast as pretty much anything straight into the outlet or something designed for lightning charging. As soon as you plug it into your computer, it will start downloading software which, like I said: my first razer product, I don't. know how it all works. I just wanted the ability to control the lighting and it took me forever to figure out which of the 10 software really was. I love how customizable it can be, you can use their color chart or make your own, it can do different light effects like breathing, gradient, static, go with your music, star light, etc. So I was impressed. You must register your product and create an account for it to save your light settings or it will constantly reset. When your PC is off, the lights turn off, which is good because I was worried it would always be on when I was trying to sleep. All in all, do I think it's worth $50? Absolutely not but I'm paying for a brand and I understood that when buying. It's 100% fun for me. I was just slightly disappointed for the price paid what it offered. UPDATE 2021: 1 year later! Yes, I maintain this is 100% treat yourself and it was my first razor product. I now own almost the entire Quartz line (Huntsman, Basilisk, Kraken, Kitty BT). mostly PC so it would make sense that this would only work plugged into the PC, but for those who don't know much about specs this will come as a shock because as I originally said I have asked if I could just plug it into a USB box my wall and was told I could and that's a lie. The Synapse software has been greatly improved since my original purchase and you DO NOT NEED the other software unless you really program your colors which I don't really, if you just want to edit the colors you have just need Synapse. value, but it really ties the whole setup together.
