Razer Base Station Chroma - Chroma Gaming Headset Stand with USB Hub - Quartz Rose
So let's start with some quick facts/warnings: this is my very first Razer review, I wasn't sure what to expect other than a lot of YouTube's I subscribed to using their products as well as friends online, I so had high expectations at the same time. I don't have a gaming PC so in no way can I use this to its potential attraction. I got it purely for aesthetics if I'm being honest since most of my gaming/pc stuff is black and pink already, i thought it would be ok and had some nice lights. Now that's settled, let's go. I had read a lot of reviews and asked if this should be plugged into a computer or if I could just plug it into my wall Almost everyone said I could plug it into my wall WRONG .It MUST be 100% plugged into a computer to work which was frustrating as I wanted it next to my bed where I stored my headphones but now I had to move them so that was a huge bummer I thought that I had a faulty item until I dug some more and found it only works plugged into a computer, which makes sense given the brand. feels but i never have a headphone stand do that it only works when your computer is on so if you want to use it to charge anything or your computer lights need to be on 100 %, I think putting the USB ports in the front makes your setup look messy and not as clean but that's not a big deal for me since I don't really intend to use them in any way. elsewhere here and there. Speaking of usb... PC 5v USB doesn't "quick charge" anything, so if you plan on using a phone charger or anything for gadgets, this isn't a good idea. isn't your best option. It will still charge, just not as fast as pretty much anything straight into the outlet or something designed for lightning charging. As soon as you plug it into your computer, it will start downloading software which, like I said: my first razer product, I don't. know how it all works. I just wanted the ability to control the lighting and it took me forever to figure out which of the 10 softwares actually was. I love how customizable it can be, you can use their color chart or create your own, it can do different light effects like breathing, gradient, static, go with your music, Star light, etc. So I was impressed. You need to register your product and create an account for it to save your light settings or it will constantly reset. When your PC is off, the lights turn off, which is good because I was worried it would always be on when I was trying to sleep. All in all, do I think it's worth $50? Definitely not but I'm paying for a brand and I figured that out when buying. It's 100% pleasure for me. was just slightly disappointed for the price paid what it was offering. 2021 UPDATE: 1 year later!Yes, I maintain this is 100% a treat and it was my first razor product.I now own almost the entire quartz range (Huntsman, Basilisk, Kraken, Kitty BT ). mostly PC so it would make sense that this would only work plugged into the PC, but for those who don't know much about specs this will come as a shock because as I originally said I have asked if I could just plug it into a USB box my wall and was told I could and that's a lie. The Synapse software has been greatly improved since my original purchase and you DO NOT NEED the other software Unless you really program your colors, which I don't really, if you just want to edit the colors, you just need Synapse. value, but it really ties the whole setup together.
