Although xQc has been a gamer all his life, his career as an online personality didn't start with Overwatch. Growing up in Quebec, Canada, his first love was extreme sports. Teaming up with a childhood friend , xQc created his first YouTube videos performing daring stunts and impressive tricks on skateboards, snowboards and even trampolines.

xQc's current team is Luminosity Gaming. On October 1, 2020, xQc announced that he was joining the organization's content team, leading the organization's Rising Stars program to help discover the next big streamer.

xQc played for several other teams during his professional gaming career. In 2016, he joined his first team: Team DatZit, a semi-professional esports team based in Montreal. Shortly after, he played for an Overwatch team known as Q?, who was signed by Denial eSports between 2016 and 2017.
