Apple and Samsung may be two of tech's biggest haters, but both are rooting for the iPhone X

For each iPhone X made by Apple, Samsung is estimated to cost $110 (about £83 / AU$140), due to the Samsung-made OLED displays and memory chips that are built into each device. In fact, if the iPhone X gets rich, Samsung could make more money from iPhone sales than its own.

Despite the

endless legal battles

and

competing high-end phones

, the two tech companies may rely on each other more than you might think. Samsung is one of the world's leading suppliers of OLED displays. With iPhone X bringing OLED to iPhone for the first time, Samsung is an obvious choice. And while Apple's phones are getting their fancy new screens,

Samsung makes a significant profit in the process

.

Counterpoint analysis estimates that Apple will sell around 130 million. The iPhone X is within 20 months of its debut. If Samsung earns $110 per iPhone, that brings profits to $14.3 billion (around £10.8 billion/AU$18.3 billion). The same research company claims that Samsung earns $202 on Galaxy S8 components and estimates that 50 million devices were sold over a 20-month period. Estimate the S8's earnings at $10.1 billion (£7.6 billion/A$12.9 billion), more than $4 billion less than the iPhone estimate.
