Logitech G935 Wireless DTS:X 7.1 Surround Sound LIGHTSYNC RGB PC Gaming Headset - Black/Blue
First of all, I want to say that I have had issues with this helmet aside from the helmet itself. I am not deducting stars for this as this is a product review and not a seller review. My first order of this headset, I received a G430 headset. But it was in the correct G935 box (albeit crushed). I guess the previous owner of this box cheated the seller and replaced this expensive helmet with a cheaper one. What bothers me is that if this was the right helmet, I would have received a "refurbished" helmet. Definitely not new and definitely not refurbished. Anyway, let's get to the real review. Some of my biggest desires in a headset are wireless capability, comfort, software proficiency, and good sound. The G935 excels in all but one of these categories. Wireless capability is excellent. It has better range than my Arctis 7 and Elite 800, and about equal to my Stealth 520. Very good. The dongle is quite small and fits into the headset itself. Comfort. The G935 beats every other headset I've ever tried, but not by much. I have a moderately large head and this fits me very well. Also, the leatherette is amazing and the earmuff part is very roomy. The most spacious I've ever experienced on a helmet. Battery. The G935 certainly lacks in this area. While not much of an issue for me, many might find the slow charging times and poor battery life annoying. 12 hours is just not good, especially since the previous G933 had the same battery life. No improvement, especially when compared to the battery life of other headphones in 2019, is somehow unacceptable.Audio. On par with any other high end gaming headset as far as I know. The surround sound is full and I can tell directions very well. But there isn't much difference in surround sound compared to other DTS 2.0 headphones, that's not a bad thing, but don't expect to hear or feel any difference from a other DTS 2.0 headphones. Also, there is no distortion at high volumes, but as a result, it doesn't seem to be as loud as other headphones. Microphone. Very clear. It feels a bit far from my face, but I was surprised it was still able to convey my voice clearly. My friend and other netizens would say that I felt like I was using a very high end microphone. Durability. I didn't own the G935 for long. But it seems reinforced with metal in the right places that usually break. Not much to rent here but no complaints. Gimmicks. If you like gadgets, look further. With RGB lighting that you can't see and also reduces the already low battery life, it looks very nice. If you kind of look at the back of your head. The 50mm drivers make no difference to the sound, and if so, I definitely can't hear it. The microphone folds into the headset, which is actually a very useful feature, as well as the dongle that can be placed in the cup of the headset. after about 3 weeks.Software. Ghub is awful. Maybe console gamers could have a good time with this headset, but I for one can't stand it. For it to actually connect to your headset, it's like a coin toss. Reinstalling the software works. Until it happens again. Or you can simply reset your PC. Otherwise, nothing else works. This irritated me so much because without the software you can't change any settings. And you can't even see the remaining battery life. A great headset crippled by terrible software. Price/Performance. I paid a crisp $170 for this headset. Is it a good helmet? Yes it is. But for that price, it lacks many major features that would realistically make it that price. Good software, good battery life, Bluetooth connectivity and noise cancellation. For nearly $200, this headset should do the basics well, as it does for the most part. And do a few other things. Adding useless gadgets instead of useful features doesn't make sense to me. If those gadgets I listed above are more important to you than those things I listed then go for it but if you are a thrifty shopper for the money I suggest looking at other headsets .TLDR. Bad software. Bad battery life. Lots of gadgets. Very good comfort and audio. Very expensive.Edit 12/20/19 I bought this helmet again in October. It was on sale for $100, I thought Logitech might have fixed some issues. It looked like they did. Still, some issues persist with the software. Fortunately, software issues are a bit more manageable. My reasoning for buying this helmet again was that I never replaced it. But I really liked the comfort of the headset (and I've owned many pairs of headsets) Software issues I've encountered: G Hub won't install if you've already uninstalled it. I found the fix was to remove hidden files in the registry. G Hub is using 100% of my CPU. I've only seen this twice and don't have a solution for it. Despite using 100% of my CPU, I think this may have been a false usage error as my games never dropped frame rate as a result. The software isn't completely unusable now, though. And all the good things I said about the helmet are still true. For the price of $100, the headset is currently competitive. I would say it might give arctis 7 or Astro headsets a hard time.
