Logitech G PRO X Wireless Lightspeed Gaming Headset with Blue VO!CE Mic Filter Tech, 50 mm PRO-G Drivers, and DTS Headphone:X 2.0 Surround Sound
I don't write many reviews anymore, and wanted to find out for myself why there were so many mixed or bad reviews. I'm a longtime Arctis 7 user and also come from many other headsets such as Razer BlackShark V2 Pro; including audiophile sets such as Sennheiser 598SR, Philips SHP 9500/Fidelio X2, etc. My wife gave me a GPW for my birthday some time ago, which I'm in love with - normally I disparage Logitech products/services, although I've come from previous Logitech products and still use an MX Master 3, etc Anyway, back on topic... I bought these because 1) the wireless is too clean and convenient to pass up, that's why I'm using my Arctis Refined 7 with SS Engine EQ (even used Peace/Equalizer APO at one point). 2) I don't like software suites too much and wanted to stay in the GHub (had no problems). 3) I paid attention to the positive reviews about it and was very intrigued. Plus, I had an Amazon gift card to use, hehe. What I've read about hissing and interference, and most of these bad reviews - I work in IT and there's a high chance this is mostly user error. Keep in mind this is on PC - not sure if there are more issues on console etc. The surround sound is definitely worse than the Arctis 7 because it's very muddy. I appreciate the automatic switching of sound profiles similar to SS Engine. For general use for the most part, I recommend turning off surround sound and just running the natural "flat" EQ - I prefer that authentic stereo sound, but feel free to play around with other EQs. For the mic part I noticed a bit more static at higher gains - most mics are like that without a good DAC or sound card. I no longer use a DAC and I no longer have an external sound card. I found the "Broadcaster" and "FM Station" EQs for the mic to be the best; didn't need to change any other settings. When I did, there was a slightly more noticeable noise, but not terrible. The mic beats the Arctis 7 straight up...not as bad as others have reported, or from some of the YouTube videos I've seen. Again, user error, I don't know what additional tweaks they make in advanced settings, but using Broadcaster or FM Station with Blue Voice on looks fine to me with a gain of around 88-90 . YMMW, and keep in mind other factors such as wireless interference, RGB lighting, etc. use an extension cable if you need to isolate the dongle. I mainly play FPS shooters like CS:GO, Apex Legends and listen to a lot of music, but these are mostly for gaming. I really have no complaints, except that I would have liked the microphone to be retractable. I like my headphones to be more open for that more pleasing soundstage, so I'm switching to the cloth ear cushions instead of leather. I'm glad they included this because with the two pairs of Arctis 7s I had, I purchased separate pads for them ($25+/pair). I've never used the wired Arctis 7, so I didn't care that the Logi's could only work wirelessly. Battery life is also better than the Arctis 7 by far; GHub also works much better than SS Engine, surprisingly. Again I walked away from Logi minus their desktop line and was hoping to be disappointed with these...but they did not disappoint. I can't find a reason to deduct a star, and I don't understand what these people are complaining about about the low volume...correctly. The volume button doesn't have a breakpoint like the Arctis 7, but the layering is great and the dial feels good with some resistance. And who uses chat mix anyway? It's trash and not necessary. With the Arctis 7, I also had to use VoiceMeeter Banana. Although I kinda like the SteelSeries I/O dongle/receiver, I have rather fewer cables; also rather not having to run VoiceMeeter Banana just to improve mic quality etc which sometimes also caused static. The sound is just really balanced across the board, and the mic is crisp and clear (lots of mic EQ profiles are meh; just use the ones I mentioned above). Also try to keep the input volume around 55-70 and increase with a limiter or compression. Otherwise, if the input volume (gain) is too high, it will pick up additional background/noise. Anyway, thanks for reading, and I hope this helps you guys and gals (and takes away some of the indecision from the mixed reviews!). Hopefully Logitech continues to improve from here. Keep calm and keep playing - thumbs up!
