Launch Mixed Reality Portal
Once you've plugged in your Windows Mixed Reality Headset and the driver has successfully installed, the Mixed Reality Portal (MRP) will automatically launch on your desktop. If the portal does not launch, you can still open the mixed reality portal from
Start > Mixed Reality Portal
. Once the portal has started, select
Begin
In the Mixed Reality Portal you can:
Show a live feed of the view in your headset (Windows Mixed Reality Ultra only) by selecting "Stop Preview" or "Start Preview". You can also turn preview on and off from the mixed reality start menu.
Check the status of your headset and controllers. Select "Menu" to see all information.
Configure new controllers. Select
Menu > Configure Controllers
.
Enable or disable the limit. Select
Menu > Border On/Off
. (If you turn it off, you'll need to stay in one place for added security.)
Create a new boundary. Select
Menu > Run Setup
.
Access your mixed reality photos. Select
Menu > View mixed reality photos
.
Get mixed reality apps and games. Select
Menu > Get mixed reality apps
.
Download Windows Mixed Reality
Windows Mixed Reality is 1GB in size, and your download times will vary depending on your internet connection. If you encounter a message saying "We were unable to download the mixed reality software", check out these

General troubleshooting
If you're having trouble or getting an error message while using the Mixed Reality Portal, try these solutions.
Restart Windows Mixed Reality
Disconnect your headset from your PC (both cables).
Restart your PC, then reconnect your headset.
Make sure your PC recognizes your headset
If restarting doesn't work, make sure your headset is recognized by your PC. Select Start, type device manager in the search box, and then select it from the list. Expand Mixed Reality Devices and see if your headset is listed.
If it's not listed, try the following:
Plug the headset into different PC ports, if available.
Check for the latest software updates from
Windows Update
.
Uninstall and reinstall Windows Mixed Reality:
< p>Disconnect your headset from your PC (both cables).Select
Settings > Mixed Reality > Uninstall
.
Unpair your motion controllers: select
Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices
. Select each controller, then select
Delete device
.
To reinstall Windows Mixed Reality, reconnect your headset to your PC.

Try this
Check your USB cable
Connect your headset to another USB port (and make sure it's SuperSpeed USB 3.0). Also try removing extension cords or hubs between the headset and the computer.
Check your monitor cable
Try the following steps:
Connect your headphones to a DisplayPort 1.2 or later, or HDMI 1.4 or later. Make sure the port matches the most advanced graphics card in your PC.
If you're using an adapter, make sure it's 4K compatible
Try using another HDMI port p>
If you have an external monitor plugged into an HDMI port, try plugging it into a DisplayPort instead and use the HDMI port for your headphones

Compatibility check
The next step is the compatibility check. The Mixed Reality Portal will verify that your PC is compatible with Mixed Reality.
The green ticks
mean your PC has passed the required item!
Orange
triangles mean there may be issues with your PC for the given requirement. If you are having issues, you may need to troubleshoot or upgrade your PC.
Red
The Xs mean that your PC does not meet the requirements for the specified item.
