Fix blurry images on Galaxy S10
Imagine quickly pulling your phone out of your pocket to snap a photo of a memorable moment before the occasion fades away. Now imagine looking at your phone just to see that the image is blurry. If this is familiar to you, below are all the possible causes of this problem and their solutions.
The obvious solutions
Starting with the most obvious, the first thing you should do, if you haven't already, is to check if you've adjusted the focus correctly. A good way to do this is to point to your camera and switch to focus mode from there. Make sure autofocus is on. This should then help you focus better.
Another simple solution is to wipe the camera with a piece of cloth or cotton swab. Camera lenses are generally susceptible to dust as it can appear in front.
Check photo resolution
The resolution of your photo may be reduced in the camera settings. This tends to worsen image quality in all aspects, so you might want to make sure the resolution isn't set to the lowest available. To check if this is the case, go to the camera settings and tap on "Resolution". See what your current resolution is and increase it if necessary.
Check for updates
All Android smartphones receive frequent updates, but not only the operating system. App developers are also working on updates all the time. Therefore, go to Play Store (or Galaxy Apps Store) and see if there are any app updates available. It might just be because your camera needs an update.
Additionally, you should check if your operating system has a pending update. If you haven't received a notification about this, consider looking for it yourself:
Find the settings.
Search for “About phone”.
Choose "Update Software." This option will see if new updates are available.
If there is an update, the device will tell you how to install it. Press the “Download” button to start.
Empty the cache
Since phone apps often have new updates, it can lead to phone system cache failure and issues with many apps, camera included. But cleaning it is very easy and safe to do. It is also something you should do often to avoid such problems. Here's how to clear the cache of the Camera app:
Open Settings
Select "Apps".
Find the Camera app and tap it.
Go to “Storage”.
Press the “Clear cache” button.
Note: If this does not fix the problem immediately, try restarting the device first. .
If the problem persists even after restarting, clear the Camera app data. You can find the “Clear Data” button in the same menu as the “Clear Cache” button, so again go to the “Storage” menu. Again, restart the phone if that doesn't help immediately.
Enter safe mode
Has your camera started taking blurry photos recently? If so, it might be an app you recently installed that is interfering with the camera and causing poor quality photos. An easy way to check if this is the case is to start your phone in safe mode. This way, you start your phone with only the most crucial apps and drivers, making it easy to find issues with the phone software. To do this:
Turn off your phone.
Press and hold the power button to turn it back on, but don't release the button until the Samsung logo appears.
When this happens release the power button and press and hold the volume down button until the phone finishes booting up. You have successfully entered safe mode if it says “safe mode” in the lower left corner of the screen.
The recommended course of action is to charge your phone for at least 30 minutes and see if anything happens. Other than that, try Camera and see if it's better. If this is no longer a problem, you should remove the most recently installed app or apps.
Factory reset
If all fails to provide a solution, consider performing a factory reset. Of course, this will delete your data in the process, but you can back it up first. Here's how to revert to the default state:
Turn off your phone.
Press and hold the volume up and Bixby buttons. Right after that hold down the Power button.
Do not release any buttons until the Android logo appears.
You are on the right track if the message “Installing system update” appears, followed by the system recovery menu. Use the volume up and down buttons to select the “Wipe data/Factory reset” option.
Select it by pressing the power button.
The phone will ask you if you want it. want to confirm, then highlight the "Yes - delete all user data" option.
Press the power button to select it.
As soon as this is done, you will see the pre-selected option “Reboot system now”. Press the power button to select it and restart your phone.
Take your photo
These are all the most common solutions for camera issues. If your S10 is still taking disappointing photos, see if it's a problem with the Camera app by downloading an alternative or two from Google Play. If that doesn't help either, see if you can contact Samsung or your carrier. Or try requesting a refund or exchange if you purchased your Galaxy S10 recently.
