How do I use picture-in-picture (PIP) on my LCD TV?
All Samsung LCD TVs that offer the Picture in Picture (PIP) feature are single-tuner TVs. Single-tuner LCD TVs with PIP capability allow you to watch a TV channel and another video source such as a VCR or a DVD player or two video sources such as a VCR or DVD player when you set the TV to PIP mode.
A full explanation of the use of picture-in-picture (PIP) on single-tuner Samsung LCD TVs is too long for the confined space of an FAQ answer. However, there are a number points you need to know if you want PIP on a single tuner LCD TV to work for you:
A single-tuner LCD TV with PIP function has only one TV tuner and can only tune to one TV channel at a time. Therefore, you cannot watch two TV channels at the same time. time when you set the TV to PIP mode.
You can watch a channel and another video source using PIP, one in the main screen and the other in the PIP window. standard cable to the Antenna socket on the TV and one or more video sources (a VCR, DVD player, PC, etc.) to the AV, S-, Component, D-Sub or DVI video input sockets.
You can watch two video sources, such as a VCR and a DVD player, at the same time using PIP. To watch two video sources, you need to connect two or more video sources (a VCR, DVD player, PC, etc. ) to the AV, S-Video, Component, D-Sub or DVI input jacks.
The choices of video source combinations you can use for both the main screen and the PIP window at the same time are limited. The choices you have depend on the model of TV you have.
The sample table below shows the PIP-compatible video sources for a particular LCD TV. Os indicate compatibility. Xs indicate incompatibility. For example, if your TV is tuned to a digital channel, you can use PIP whether the PIP source is AV, S-Video, or Component. The user manuals for all Samsung LCD TVs have similar charts. Look for them in the section titled
Picture-in-picture display.
If the PIP function is greyed out on your TV and you cannot access it, or if you get an error message saying "Not available in current mode", it means that PIP is not working with the video source (mode ) currently selected. To access and use PIP, you must change the video source to one that works with PIP.
Most of Samsung's single-tuner LCD PIP TVs offer the following PIP features:
Picture-in-picture display
Selecting an external source
Swap secondary image and main image
Changing the size of the subpicture
Changing the location of the secondary image
Change subpicture channel

Note that some models offer less PIP functions.
For instructions on these PIP functions, see your user manual in the section titled
