How to Fix Plantronics Headset Echo
Echo in headphones is common and can usually be solved with a few adjustments. There are two forms of echo that could occur.
You hear an echo
Your correspondent hears an echo
Both can be extremely frustrating. If you have an important phone call and you can't concentrate because you hear every word in your headset, it may not be worth using the headset.
Ditto for the caller. If they keep hearing their own voice while talking, it can be a frustrating experience.
That being said, I have the solution for you.
In this guide, it will be a challenge for me to provide the exact adjustments for each model of Plantronics headset that you would use. If this guide does not solve the echo problem of your Plantronics headset,

Plantronics wireless headset echo correction
#1 Adjust phone or computer volume
First, if you're using a corded desk phone, start with
Turn phone volume down 50-70%. When your phone volume reaches 100%, this alone may cause echo or distortion.
If you are using your Plantronics headset on a computer, also adjust the headset volume on your computer to 50-70%. You may also turn sidetone on and may want to turn it off to avoid echo.
How to enable/disable sidetone
#2 Adjust the volume on your Plantronics
If you're using a wireless Plantronics headset, chances are you have volume controls on the headset as well as the charging base. One of the most common cases of echo occurs when these volumes are turned up too high.
Check your headphones manual to find your volume controls.
Adjust your microphone volume on the charging base (some models have a number you adjust, others have a minus button you click)
Adjust the speaker volume down on the charging base.
Lower the volume of your headphones several times
If you have trouble hearing and being heard, adjust your volumes one at a time until you are at a comfortable volume.
For example:
Adjust the volume once on your headset, boost your phone's volume up to 60%, Adjust the mic setting on your charging base with one click. Keep testing until you find the right balance and the echo from the Plantronics headset disappears.
#3 Make sure the compatibility dial is correct
If you are using a Plantronics wireless headset for your desk phone, on the charging base is a compatibility dial. Usually 1-4 or AG. If this setting is off, you will get echo, poor sound quality, or no his.
Models with the AG compatibility dial, by default, should be set to A. If connecting to a Cisco desk phone, your Plantronics wireless headset will usually need to be set to D if you are not using an EHS cable or Lifter.
Plantronics Wired Headset Echo Adjustment
When it comes to wired and echo headphones, there will be less troubleshooting you can do, but here are some steps you can follow.
When connecting to a desk phone, you will either have a direct connect cable or a headphone amplifier. If you have a direct connect cable, you will want to lower your phone volume down to so that the echo is not heard. If you are having trouble hearing now, the only other solution for you is to get a headphone amplifier, which allows you to balance the volumes.
When connecting to a computer you may need to disable sidetone or in your computer's softphone there should be audio settings for your microphone and speaker. Make sure the automatic setting of the microphone is muted and lower your microphone volume until the Plantronics headset echo problem stops.
