LucidSound LS35X Wireless Surround Sound Gaming Headset - Officially Licensed for Xbox One - Works Wired with PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch, Mac, iOS and Android
TL; DR is at the end.EDIT AT BOTTOM (10/18/18) I use an XBOX One X and have been using the Turtle Beach Stealth 500X (held together by popsicle sticks and electrical tape) for over 4 years , which were completely wireless for the controller, but having a USB dongle plugged into the XBOX. This is what I use for my main sound quality comparisons. First impressions: 1. They feel like a decent headset but i expected the whole band to be metal it looks like there is a metal frame around the cans but once they hit that hinge where the extension is of the headband, I'm pretty sure it's all plastic. They fit quite well but seem a bit heavy. The bonus travel case is nice. The volume dials and buttons seem flimsy. I'm very careful and I don't see this as a problem for me but I was expecting some metal and a little less wobble/dive on the mute buttons ne.2.They were very easy to pair.Took about 5-10 seconds.3.I played 3 games for a total of about 3 hours, COD Black Ops 4 Battle Royal, PUBG and Forza Horizon 4 I've had audio drops in every game, about every 2-3 minutes.Sometimes more frequent, sometimes less, but on average every few minutes.Sometimes it's half a second, sometimes a second, sometimes a few seconds or more. It's a killer in the battle royale. You just have to wait for the sound to pick up. liked separate sound profiles for shooters, racing games etc. 4. These sound really good and loud. At least they sound louder than the Stealth 500x. I use both with Dolbey Atmos and I seem to hear better, direction and overall, with the LS35x. Maybe it's a placebo, but I'll test more. Pros: *Seem to be of good quality but I'm worried about the hinges and headband over time. * They sound great and strong. (I only tested with Dolbey Atmos) Good directional awareness. Feels like it's better than the Stealth 500x. * Easy to connect to the console. * 100% wireless. When you turn off the console, they turn off, just like the controller. Cons: * Too many disconnects (probably the deal breaker for me and many others if there isn't an immediate fix) * No Bluetooth. Can't connect to phone this way to manage headset or play audio from a mobile device. (It's 2018 and these have been delayed for so long, it's a big fail since most newer mobile devices are dropping the 3.5 jack mm. Wired works don't mean much if you don't have a 3.5mm jack on your phone. * No EQ - the preset is the preset. While this sounds great, it doesn't work for all games.Turtle Beaches had presets preloaded or you could connect to a PC and set up personal presets for different game genres. They would highlight different sounds depending on the genre.TL;DR: The sound and build are good but there is too much audio dropout. No equalizer. I have waited a long time for this, not sure I want to wait for a firmware update. The audio drops could be a bargain breaker.EDIT (10/18/18) Don't buy these. I used them for 2 more hours after trying all the troubleshooting tips provided by LucidSound. I unpaired/repaired, left the room with just a headset, just a controller, then both, to allow re-pairing with the XBOX. Nothing is working and these are disconnecting several times a minute now. Maybe afla firmware update can fix them but with the way the preorder, the delays, the lack of information/communication by LucidSound, and then how the launch went, I have no confidence that this company can provide a quick firmware update, and even if they could, it would actually fix the problem. Even 1 audio dropout is unacceptable. Those drop out all the time. It's like every time you move your head, they disconnect. For anyone who reviews them and says the cutouts aren't a big deal, they're not avid gamers. Calls, beeps, and directional awareness are everything in games which I play, PUBG, COD Blackout and Destiny. Shame on LucidSound for shipping them like this with no solution in sight. Their quality control must be non-existent. I couldn't be more disappointed after waiting so long and receiving a p defective product. These come back for something reliable.
