Samsung NX300M 20.3MP CMOS WiFi and NFC Smart Mirrorless Digital Camera with 18-55mm Lens and 3.3" AMOLED Touchscreen (White)
A nice photo projection machine. I bought one for a recent trip to the Sierra Nevada mountains and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you're looking for a camera to bridge the gap between the venerable DSLRs and the humble point and shoot, this camera would be a good place to start. I'm one of those guys who will read reviews of stuff until I go crazy, before making a decision. Research in other words. A lot. Throw out the highs and lows and take the average of what people are saying. This was the case with the NX300. It's a very popular little camera, from what I've read. It's not perfect, but perfect enough for aspiring photographers, and the #2 camera even for some professionals. Some real-world data that you might not expect is that it can easily drain a battery in less than an hour. That's true, especially if you use it a lot. Spare batteries to the rescue though, and they're easy to get. So, not that bad. I also found that I hadn't missed a sight. If you've just used a smart phone as a camera, this is just a luxurious step up from that. I was so used to using a smartphone to take photos that I barely noticed there's no viewfinder on this camera. So it wasn't a big problem at all. Another thing I liked was the fully tilting, forward-facing screen for us self-adoring kind of people. If you like that sort of thing, be sure to select the nx300m. The nx300 doesn't do the full recline like this. I also love the interchangeable lenses, as they add great future versatility to the camera. The photos are beautiful. Crisp video. All the tuning questions are available to keep both novices and professionals busy. At the time the camera was manufactured, it was claimed to be the most connectable camera available. This means it can connect to your tablet, smart phone, TV, and can even email directly from the camera. Rather neat. But not necessary either. All I really wanted was to make great images at a reasonable price, and it certainly is. Plus, it just looks cool. Retro, leather bound. He is a spectator. The 18-55mm kit lens is good enough for everyday shooting, but check out the samsung nx lens list. Many other options available are also very popular. This review is disconnected. I apologize. I just have some stuff to say, I guess. I love its small size. It weighs somewhere under a pound, which is nice. I found it to be a featherweight rig to carry all day and hike with. Very quick to turn on and snap a photo of fleeting wildlife, or a precious moment that will soon fade. If your jacket pocket is big, this camera will fit in there. Get one of the pancake lenses, and it will go really well. Either way, the photo quality is excellent, as is the video. The onboard mics are good too. It's far more comfortable to carry around all day than a big DSLR. And as many reviewers have said, it is, or was anyway, the best value for a mirrorless camera at this price point. If you can live without a viewfinder and don't need to plug in any microphones (it doesn't have an audio jack), there's not much else to knock against this camera. A great little rig for travelling. Indeed, a nice photo-blaster machine. And its sensor is huge!
